In the beginning
I was a tiny seed
Potential brimming
in my growing need

I'll catch up with you
I'll grow so high
to poke your blue!

It's always safer underground
but silence there is too profound
Through layers and layers of filth I grind
only for the sun to make me blind

But through the pain I cry:
I want to fly up high
Make a shadow in the sky
a haven for a raven
And see the world turn by and by

Slowly the years gather around me
building a shield for internal safety
Beneath the soil my roots are growing
above the clouds my top is flowing

Winter, throw at me your best
you will never kill my zest
Silent I'll stand
here in the land
The revenge of spring is already planned

Oh, the joy of spring is here
the luscious fruit of summer near
Autumn shudders off my leaves
like a lover my heart grieves
